17th July 2010 - 24th July 2010. Glenans Irish Sailing Club, Baltimore, Co.Cork.
by -Alicia von Metzradt, 16
Apart from the weather at the start, it was a great week. Everyone got a go of using both the tiller and to sheet in the jib, you'd do one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The week I was down, we got to go out doing light wind sailing (using the genoa then, obviously), in average winds, when you'd use the normal jib, and also in heavy winds. It was fun. Up early in the morning (around 8, or 8.15 for us) and on the water by 10! Was hard some days, with being tired and what not, but once you're out there it was worth it! Rigging and de-rigging the boats (they were 570's, as far as I can remember) was both easy and quick. We stayed out on the water doing various things, such as triangular courses, man-overboard, etc., and one day we took a trip up around Spanish Island, before heading back in for lunch.
